Fish for Breakfast
TEXT: John 21:12-13 - Jesus said to them, "Come and have breakfast." None of the disciples dared ask Him, "Who are You?" They knew it was the Lord. Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish.
After Jesus died and rose from the dead, it took time for His followers to grasp what was going on. His disciples were confused and still getting their minds around the idea that Jesus was actually alive. Even so, they decided to go back to work for a while and catch some fish. From their boat they saw someone that looked like Jesus. They moved their boats quickly to shore; when they got there Jesus was waiting with breakfast for them. It was the third time they had seen Him after He rose from the dead. It's impossible to say what they were thinking, but John 21 tells us they ate a breakfast of fish and bread that Jesus had made for them. While they ate, they talked. Jesus and Peter had a very interesting conversation about forgiveness, love and service. I don't know what else they talked about, but I find it interesting that Jesus prepared the meal. I can imagine Jesus healing people and teaching, but I can't really see Him roasting fish for His friends to eat. But He did. He knew they were hungry and offered them something to keep up their strength. It wasn't the first time or the last time He fed hungry people.
